What should I do for a career? Fireman, or Nurse?

Iam a married 32 yo male making a job transition. Iam currently in the commercial construction industry, but since I have not had a job in soo long, I have decided to change to a recession "safe" career. My first choice is "Nursing RN" or "Fireman". Iam going to take my cles at Schoolcraft college in Livonia Michigan. I know that the Nursing degree will definetly be alot harder to obtain, and it is my first choice, but what would YOU do. Anyone in my area (metro Detroit) ever attended Schoolcraft College In Livonia Michigan? Ever take any of these cles?
