What are the chances my brother in law will escape further charges based on this? (UK ual ault case)?

They have to follow up every ual ault report extremely serious which could be the reason they arrested him, bailing him means they are collecting evidence and maybe at the moment the texts isnt enough evidence to say he phyiscally abused her.. If he is found not guilty there will be a record because the law at current hasnt changed so even if he gets away with it, he still have some track record but not a criminal one
