So what's with this moon thing anyway??????????

The tilt of the Earth's axis varies between about 21� and 24� over a period of many thousands of years. The presence of the Moon keeps the tilt between these limits. Without the Moon, the tilt would vary over a larger range of angles, but it wouldn't increase to the point where the Earth's axis was parallel to the ecliptic.
