Can I go to jail or be sued if I lie and say that my race is a preferred one?

Back in the 1950's and before, light-skinned black people would put "white" on their race so that they wouldn't be penalized by bad laws (bank loans, college applications, job applications). Now that things have flipped and other races get preferred treatment, can I or my kids get in trouble for lieing about our race (and putting down "black" or "native American")?
